Inspired by his Grandmother’s hearty Peruvian cooking in the local ‘picanterías’, Martin Morales initially brought warm Latino spirit to London by founding Cerviche restaurant in Soho in 2012.
Last summer, Morales opened Andina, a more relaxed joint a few minutes walk from Shoreditch Station. Filled with brightly coloured tiles, fabrics, and traditional knick-knacks, diners can watch as chefs busily prepare dishes before enjoying brunch, lunch or a range of great cocktails.
Ideal for a morning after pick-me-up are the range of wholesome fruity smoothies, while the food menu ranges in traditional meat, smoked fish, and eggs of all kinds, usually accompanied with a surprising spicy chilli, creamy or zesty sauce.
The ‘Full Peruvian’ offers an invigorating twist on the traditional full English with fried eggs, confit pork chicharron, potato rosti, wild mushrooms, and avocado on sourdough toast. And, if the hair of the dog is required, the ‘Pisco bar’ cocktails combine a traditional white brandy and Peruvian superfoods for that extra wake-up kick.
