The O2 Arena
Originally built to house the Millennium Experience exhibition, a year-long exhibition in the year 2000, the Millennium Dome was refurbished in 2005, developed as an entertainment complex and renamed The O2. Within the dome structure is found The O2 arena (with a capacity of 20,000), along with ‘Entertainment Avenue’ with it bars and restaurants, a club lounge, and various operational rooms and dressing rooms for performers.
Special sound absorbing material was used around the arena to reduce echoing, a common problem in concert venues. The ground space can be changed between an ice rink, basketball court, exhibition space, conference area, private venue and a concert venue – no surprise that by 2008 The O2 arena had become the world’s busiest venue, with sales of more than 2 million.
Qbic is idealy situated to enjoy a performance at the O2, followed by exploring the vibrant east end of London.
