Flight is simply fascinating. We live in an age when boarding a plane almost feels like catching a bus, when billionaires taunt each other over their space programmes, and as NASA sets its sight on Mars. What a time to be alive! If you are at all curious about the future of air and space travel, be sure to catch the National Maritime Museum’s interactive exhibition, Above and Beyond, which will send you on a journey from flight’s very beginnings through to the very forefront of space travel, exploring the pioneers and technologies that make it all possible. In collaboration with NASA, the family-friendly displays range from designing and flying your own jets to riding simulated space elevators, and will inspire not only adults but the next generation of astronauts, engineers and pilots.
