For all our guests from Portugal Bar Douro is going seem like a little home from home – for the rest of you it’s going to be a very unlikely London experience. The walls are covered in traditional blue-and-white Portuguese tiling, stools line the big, curved marble bar and all along the big windows face into Flat Iron Square. Head Chef Tiago Santos’s bustling kitchen serves up a carefully put together menu, presented with impressive precision – almost too beautiful to eat.
Elegant plates of Portuguese smoked sausage and Leitão suckling pig, octopus with sweet potato and favas, Cataplana fish stew, Bísaro pork ribs with ruby port glaze, are not just delightful to look at, but clearly the work someone who appreciates complex flavours.
Owner Max Graham is on hand to explain the passion project and the carefully curated all-Portuguese wine list – including a fine port from the Douro Valley where his family has had a vineyard for over 200 years. Needless to say, we love this place and we think you will too.
