Icelandic icon Björk is renowned for pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in music, art and technology. Her latest virtual reality venture at Somerset House is no exception. Björk Digital is part performance, part exhibition, part film, and part installation.
At the core of this immersive experience are four virtual reality (VR) films, each around a song from her critically acclaimed 2015 album Vulnicura. And just like the audio, the videos are equally tormented – so expect an emotional ride. Imagine a harrowing one-to-one recital from Björk on a remote, windswept beach in Iceland. Or being inside her mouth as she sings, experiencing the twisting of her tongue. Both in full 360-degree VR. Yep, this is personal, it’s unique, it’s weird and it’s wonderful – just like Björk.
