The Women and War Festival brings you into the mindset of women who have experienced the brutalities of war in their own unique ways. Through their eyes the Verbatim theatre has created ‘Valiant’, putting a spotlight on thirteen women who have fought through a century of conflict and are fighting now for their voices to be heard.
This performance transports us into the stories of these strong women, from Armenia to Japan, to the United States and even Afghanistan. The adaption for the stage by Lanna Joffrey has been influenced by the book of interviews ‘Valiant Women in War’ and ‘Exile’ interviewed by Sally Hayton-Keeva.
This month long festival takes you on a journey which is scarcely focused on throughout history, and it doesn’t just stop at the theatre performance! Make sure to also check out the comedy and poetry, photography by Keymea Yazdanian, and art by Arabella Dorman.
