You might be surprised to find a farm in London, Hackney City Farm has been giving the local community the chance to experience farming right in the heart of east London for over 20 years.
Get up close to a range of farmyard animals or get involved in planting different vegetables and plants. It’s a fantastic opportunity to learn new skills about how to live healthier and with a lower environmental impact.
The farm runs a number of projects, including courses and volunteering sessions on bee keeping and the Haggerston Orchard Project – helping to plant a young food forest in an underused area of Haggerston Park. The farm is a home for various other social enterprises and community groups, with the aim to be a centre for environmental improvement and a hub for projects for the improvement of the community and local environment.
Check out what’s on here, get involved in a course or project or simply pop down to take a look. They have an on-site café and the farm is situation right next to Haggerston park.
