Is it a gig, is it an art installation, is it a light show? Well Klanghaus is a little of each. A hit at this year’s Edinburgh Festival, Klanghaus is the work of band The Neutrinos and artist Sal Pittman. Pittman projects images and shadows onto the walls of the Southbank’s roof space, producing a hallucinatory, barrier-melting visual trip while the Neutrinos make their own brand of spooky atonal music from within the installation, soundtracking the weirdness around them. This video gives you an idea of what to expect but it’s not until you’re inside that you really appreciate how close this is to an entirely new artform (and a chance to see some bits of the Southbank Centre that most people never venture to).
