London’s Top Quirky Rooftop Bars & Restaurants

Looks like we finally start screaming the ‘S’ word…  yes you guessed it, summer is here… well almost here. Either way it’s safe to start planning your after work drinks and weekend shenanigans at one of London’s many rooftop destinations. But just in case you’re not in the know, as always #Wegotyou!

Remember when hanging out in car parks was in?… Well Skylight has only gone and made it a thing!… Kind of, they’ve turned the former car park at Tobacco Dock into a rooftop playground like no other.

As far as rooftops go you can expect the usual list of cocktails and street food, but they’ve given you a taste of something special with petanque courts, lawn bowls and three croquet lawns available to book for half-hour or one-hour slots, from £15.

This means lawn sports are the in thing this summer!

If you are looking for something more than your usual bar or restaurant, there’s one within easy reach of Qbic. Dalston Roof Park is known as a social hub / events space, it’s actually a multi-functional roof perched over a trendy cafe.

The venue is particularly colourful: not only will you find bright deck-chairs and a pink flamingo here, you’ll also find some artistic minds buzzing around and using it as a platform for showcasing their talents. Film screenings, live gigs, parties… All can be enjoyed here. All you have to do is grab a drink, sit down and enjoy!

18 Ashwin Street, E8 3DL | Closest Station: Dalston Junction or Dalston Kingsland

If there was ever a perfect location for a rooftop Queen of Hoxton have secured it! Think of the trendy location as just one of the benefits of the rooftop. They have mastered the whole trendy hipster thing with a summer and winter theme transformation that is eagerly anticipated by Londoners. They have thought of everything right down to having a semi-permanent cover to offer shelter when the lovely British weather lives up to its name.

This summer they have transformed the place into ‘Neverland’ – were dreams are born and time is never planned! So think pirates, mermaids and fairies! if you’re a big kid at heart (which is all of us really) – you’ll be pleased with the effort seen in the menu and decor.

Golden Bee is one of those fancy London cocktail bars that have an even better roof terrace. They have a very relaxed lounge bar with an aesthetically pleasing rooftop with fire-pit and sofas. Again catering for our British weather, they have heaters and blankets for anyone who needs a little warmth boost! Having a main bar downstairs means you get to enjoy the DJ playing downstairs ion the main bar  through the speakers.

Praised especially for their cocktails, they serve an exciting range from everyday classics to seasonal favourites.  Although there’s no kitchen, you can enjoy a selection of cocktails, wines and other bevs!

If you did fancy a bit to nibble on, there’s the option to give them a buzz 48 before you head down and they’ll order in sushi platters for you. That’s the kind of out-of-the-box thinking they want to live up to.

Singer Street, EC1V 9DD | Closest Station: Old Street

Literally located in old street station,  The Magic Roundabout continue to scream their tagline ‘eats, beats, booze’, which pretty much sums them up!

Back to their bizzare location – right in the heart of the tube station? Here’s what you do, take a ‘secret staircase’ from Old Street station and you’ll find it right in the middle of Old Street roundabout.

There’s so much to expect from them – everything from street food vendors, artisan coffee, cocktails and craft beer.  You can imagine the regular parties they have with DJs who are big in the game.

They too have  thought ahead  and cover the venue in winter so the party can keep going all year round!

16 St Agnes Well, EC1Y 1BE | Closest Station: Old Street

Roof East is Londons answer to ‘a one size fits all’ rooftop, you can expect the return of their outdoor cinema, Rooftop Film Club,  Roof East Bar, Birdies Crazy Golf course, as well as the only aquaponic urban farm in London- The GrowUp Box.

Roof East plan to bring you a hot list of unmissable events and they promise they’ll be something for everyone , from a morning yoga glass to acoustic sessions and community screenings.

There’s of course a list of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages to quench your thirst
