Last week we visited our friends at Winerama – a roof top wine bar based in the conveniently named venue – Dinerama, Shoreditch. We celebrated the release of one of their (and now our) favourite reds – Beaujolais Nouveau. A young, light and fruity red wine, made to be drunk every year just a few weeks after the grapes have been harvested.
On arrival we were each given a ‘passport’, our ticket to trying a selection of delicious Beaujolais Nouveau wines including a top-of-the-range Beaujolais Cru and a unique sparkling Beaujolais – which was a surprising personal favourite! To line our stomachs we ate a Beaujolais-inspired dish – coq au vin by @ldnmesschef and of course no wine tasting is complete without cheese and charcuterie boards and apparently sherbets and foam banana sweets… we weren’t complaining!
They even included a wine-spitting competition, ’Spit-Trump and Harvey Wine-stain’ whereby the aim was to spit on trumps hair and win a glass of wine. Not trusting our aim we decided to opt for a game of Pétanque and watched a live graffiti artist.
Keep an eye out on up-coming events here or pop down any Thursday – Sunday from 12pm – late. We did say roof top wine bar but don’t worry it’s fully covered and heated, prepped for all year – hang out on one of their Tuscan long tables, surrounded by twinkly lights and botanical greenery and enjoy a glass of one of their Cali-Italian wines.
