Make sure you head down to The Old Bank Vault gallery to view the latest exhibition by UK born and raised artist Tom Jean Webb. Creating a mixture of paintings and sculptures, Toms work is heavily influenced by his Grandfather (who has a fascination with American culture and history) and his Mother (a curtain maker), there is definitely a very clear American culture influence within his work.
THE WILDERNESS OF PAST, 2018
His latest exhibition is on show at The Old Bank Vault until 15th April, the series was created as a means to represent a message or a way of life.
‘Tom became interested in telling his own story by a creation of a new era or society with its own objects based on personal expression of internal issues and social commentary, designing and developing his own symbols and imagery to suggest a message. Tom’s visual representations allow him to continue to understand that ideas of these objects, the role that art plays in the presentation of these movements, and the proposed visualisation of an idealistic or honest statement.’ – The Old Bank Vault
We attended the private view of the exhibition on 5th April, held at The Old Bank Vault, a gallery and concept store on Hackney Road, where Tom had even organised a tattooist from Sailor Parlour to be present for anyone wanting to get one of his designs permanently! Great shout!
