See that terrace? Provided it’s a sunny day (duh!) this will be baking from about 3pm onwards – a seriously good spot for an early evening drink. Overlooking Granary Square’s artsy UAL students splashing about in the fountain/installation thing and Regent’s Canal, The Lighterman is spread across three floors and a good bet any time of the day – for dinner, ask for a table upstairs, the panoramic view across the square and the canal is fabulous at sunset. The menu is rather varied – smoked trout served with spiced mayo came out on top, but the ribeye was excellent too. The sticky toffee pudding almost pushed us over the edge – it’s a sharer that one!
