Is there anything more comforting yet illusive than the perfect pair of trainers? You can go anywhere in them these days, as long as they’re dark coloured and relatively sleek – the new trend for black-on-black kicks is ideal here. Plus they give you the support you need to feel you can keep it casual yet still run for the bus if you have to. But this exhibition by sneaker don Neal Heard takes it one stage further, as it examines 25 of the best shoes ever made, as voted for by both the public and some experts with far too many shoes in their cupboards. Sneakers, creps, trainers, call them what you will but they’ve gone from sports function to high fashion in a matter of decades and if you want to know why, this exhibit is a good bet.
