Tucked away in the West End, behind the bustle of the Strand, away from chain sandwich shops of Pret and Eat and tourist black hole Spaghetti House, Tandoor Chop House has popped up to save hungry shoppers just in time for the holidays. The food is, and we say this without fear on contradiction, great – huge platters of spiced meats cooked to perfection in the tandoori oven, a variety of classic naan breads (the bone marrow naan is off the hook) and some super-spicy beer-battered squid just to highlight a couple of the best dishes. What’s more, it’s away from the noise and poisonous tourism of the surrounding area, and it hasn’t yet accumulated the absurd queue that forms in front of its fiercest competitor, Dishoom, every evening, despite being every bit as tasty.
