Centuries ago, the area of the present-day flower exhibition was used as a kitchen garden where herbs were harvested. These herbs were used in the kitchen of the castle Slot Teylingen, the residency of Dutch Countess Jacoba van Beieren; hence the name Keukenhof (“kitchen garden”).

Nowadays the park covers 32 hectares and is part of the enormous estate of Slot Teylingen. On these grounds you will also find the much newer Castle Keukenhof.

Keukenhof is world’s most beautiful spring park and it attracts almost a million visitors each year! This 32-hectare park is a symphony of wonderful colours and smells, and the pavilions features over 30 flower and plant shows. Did you know you could find up to a thousand different kinds of tulips at the Keukenhof Gardens 2014?
Keukenhof Gardens 2014 opens its doors from March 20 till May 18, and is open every day from 8am – 7.30pm, including Sundays and public holidays.
You can buy your tickets at the ticket office, but you can also purchase them online.

On Saturday May 3rd the Bulbflower Parade will take place, having “Energy” as its theme this year. This parade does not take place at the Keukenhof, but it travels 40 km from Noordwijk all the way to Haarlem. The parade will also pass the Keukenhof, which allows you to leave the park and have a look at the parade.
If you would like a map of the park, we’d be happy to print one for you at our reception!
