The name International Broadcasting Convention, which is IBC written in full, is no longer used by the organisation and is no longer up-to-date. Over the years the focus of the fair has shifted from traditional radio and television to media and entertainment in its broadest sense. This is why in official communication the abbreviation IBC is the only one being used.
IBC 2014 is a trade fair where media and entertainment professionals from all over the world – ranging from newsreaders to technicians – meet each other, share their knowledge and do business with each other. The trade fair consists of a congress (September 11-15) and an exhibition (September 12-16).
The IBC Conference, which runs from Thursday 11 September until Monday 15 September, is world’s biggest non-commercial congress in the area of media and entertainment; it provides insight into how technology is changing the media market. There are readings from over 300 international speakers, group discussions and various master classes spread over five days.
During the IBC Exhibition, which runs from Friday 12 September until Tuesday 16 September, more than 1500 manufacturers and distributors of audiovisual means, production assets and broadcasting equipment will present their products and services spread over 14 halls. This exhibition and marketplace gives congress participants deeper insight into the technologies and trends that moves the media and entertainment industry forward.
The trade fair awards prizes in different categories, for example the IBC Innovation Award for the best lecture and the best-looking stand during the exhibition. However, the most prestigious prize is the International Honour for Excellence, a prize awarded to a person or an organisation that has made an extraordinary contribution to the media and entertainment industry. Last year this prize was awarded to Sir Peter Jackson who is well-known for the Lord of the Rings trilogy. In the past this prize was awarded to giants like director James Cameron and wildlife filmmaker Sir David Attenborough.

We offer you an impeccably clean hotel room, a comfortable king size bed, a refreshing rain shower and free Wi-Fi. We still have rooms available for the period between 11 and 16 September, which is when IBC2014 is taking place.
