The celebrations start on King’s Night, the evening before King’s Day. Fancy going to a pub or club into the early hours? We prefer to go to a sociable street party with a beer in hand. The Jordaan district is a great place to go for dancing and celebrating out on the street.
Do you have clutter in your attic? Second-hand clothes? Children’s toys? Home-made waffles? Or perhaps you play violin or recorder? Then why not take part in the unregulated local street markets on King’s Day? It’s the time of the year to smooth out your tablecloth on a section of pavement or lawn, preferably marking off the spot in advance with chalk and a ‘reserved’ sign. Perhaps you will stumble across some new treasures as you wander around the street markets. For the first time in eighteen years, there will once again be a street market on Apollolaan, just a stone’s throw from Qbic Hotel Amsterdam. The street markets in the districts of Jordaan and Haarlemmerbuurt are also well worth a visit.
If you would prefer to go to a big celebration than selling your wares or shopping at the street markets, then the Kingsday Festival is the place for you. The fantastic line-up includes Jack U (Skrillex & Diplo), Robin Schulz, Joris Voorn, FeestDJRuud, and many more. The early bird tickets are already sold out; however, you can still get hold of regular tickets for €29.50 via the website. The Festival is only ten minutes’ walk from Qbic!
Last tickets available! Tickets for this 20th edition of the Loveland van Oranje Festival are almost sold out, so make sure you get yours soon if you want to go. The line-up includes Loco Dice, Benny Rodrigues, Matthew Dear, De sluwe vos, Secret Cinema, and many more. Last year’s Loveland van Oranje festival took place in Oosterpark. This year’s edition is in Meerpark, close to Oosterpark.
Are you planning on visiting Amsterdam on King’s Day? You aren’t the only one with that idea! The trains to Amsterdam will be full of people dressed in orange from head to toe, wanting to celebrate in the capital city. The train is your best option, though, and once you are in Amsterdam you can go by foot or, outside the centre, by public transport.
