This is our personal top 3 of Japanese restaurants and sushi bars.
At Genki, in the Reguliersdwarsstraat (in between the Konings Square and the Rembrandt Square) you can order up to 25 of the 75 dishes in five rounds. This will only cost you €17,95 (lunch, 1pm – 4pm) or €25,95 each (diner, 4pm – 10.30pm). You can choose from soups and salads, various grilled and fried dishes, rice and noodles and, of course, sushi: sashimi, nigiri, maki, uramak and temaki handrolls. Vegetarians can eat to their heart’s content as well! This restaurant also has a romantic inner garden where you can have your lunch or dinner. Even inside the restaurant the atmosphere is more romantic than trendy. Their service is just like their food: simply good. Take-away? No problem.
Japanese restaurant and sushi bar Ichi-e is situated in the ArenaPoort on the Arena Boulebard, at a 14-minute tram distance from our trendy hotel Qbic Amsterdam WTC. It is more than worth it to take this trip, because this restaurant and sushi bar has good food and is also relatively affordable, as they offer various menus for under €20 pp. The sushi bar is open for lunch and dinner whereas the Japanese restaurant is only open for dinner. We went there in the afternoon, so we sat down at the sushi bar on the ground floor where the sushi-go-round kept passing us. Except for the sushi train, you can also order sushi and grilled dishes from the menu. Ichi-e has free Wi-Fi and you can order take-away as well.
Feel like having sushi in the middle of the week? Then we’d recommend the trendy restaurant Sushi Time WTC, situated at a stone’s throw from our hotel. This restaurant mainly has business customers and is closed on weekends. The atmosphere of the restaurant is kind of business-like, just as their target group. The opening hours are adjusted to businesspeople. You can have lunch at work days from 11.30am – 3pm. Dinner is on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday from 3pm – 7pm and on Thursday and Friday from 6pm – 9pm. Let’s move on to the most important thing: the food. During lunch you can have conveyor belt sushi. Besides sushi, various tepanyaki grilled dishes will pass. The colour of your plate will tell you the price of the dish, which lies between €1,95 and €5,75. During dinner you can sit down at a table and on Thursday and Friday night they have all you can eat at a fixed and affordable price. Want to reserve a spot? Ask our service manager. We are happy to help!
