Vegan restaurants in Amsterdam

Do you sometimes crave delicious, eco-friendly food (read: no meat, fish, or other animal products)? When that craving hits, Amsterdam has plenty of restaurants to satisfy your inner foodie. Some are 100% vegan, others are vegetarian with plenty of vegan options. With so many excellent options to choose from, we’ve created a list of our favourites. Enjoy!

Mr. & Mrs. Watson – Linnaeuskade 3

This hotspot in Amsterdam Oost was made possible thanks to a genius crowdfunding campaign, which says a lot about the demand for a vegan lunch, dinner, and drinks establishment. The menu features a sloppy BBQ sandwich with pulled jackfruit, a roasted chilli pepper bitterbal (stuffed croquette ball), garlicky Mexican beans, cashew fondue, vegan cheese, and spring rolls with butterscotch-marzipan and blackberry-pear compote. This is vegan with a culinary twist.

Dophert – Spaarndammerstraat 49

Dophert puts a vegan twist on classic breakfast and lunch dishes. Think: pancakes with salted honeycomb butter and pecan crumble, banh mi, Friethoes chips, bagels with cream cheese, and bottomless milkshakes. What’s more, this restaurant is open three nights a week for dinner and has an extensive take-out menu.

Koffie ende Koeck – Haarlemmerweg 175

This restaurant is for those with an insatiable sweet tooth. All of their baked goods are home-made, vegan, and largely organic. The lunchroom also offers plenty of gluten-free options, as well as tasty sandwiches and soups.

Vegan Junkfood Bar – Staringplein 22 & Marie Heinekenplein 9-10

The name says it all: Vegan Junkfood Bar offers the ultimate combination of vegan and junk food. The menu features vegan burgers, bitterballen (croquette balls), kapsalon chips, and fish & chips with crispy Dutch weed bites.

SLA

Not all salads are created equal, especially since the opening of SLA. With seven locations throughout Amsterdam, this restaurant hits the mark with its salads, veggie bowls, and soups. At SLA, you can even create your own salads. Click here for the locations.
