Roze Filmdagen 2015 film programme

Every year Amsterdam is in the pink for the Gay Pride celebrations; the Roze Filmdagen LGBTQ film festival is just as accessible. Whatever your sexuality, you are more than welcome at the film festival. The programme is as diverse as the LGBTQ scene; there is something for everyone, and certainly more than just one film. There are 116 showings in total, with romantic comedies, confrontational documentaries, and everything in between. Whether you want to watch something scintillating, spine-tingling, amusing, or thought-provoking, there is something for you.

On the opening night on 12 March there will be a showing of Lilting, a moving film about two people who both have a very deep but different relationship with the same man, Kai: his mother Junn and his lover Richard. It will be an entertaining evening with guests, speakers, sparkling wine, and this film in the spotlight! Take a look at the full programme for the 11-day film festival on the Roze Filmdagen website.

From underground festival to esteemed event

The International Gay and Lesbian Filmfestival Holland, which was to take place once every five years, was held in 1986 and 1991. When it emerged that there would be no third edition of the festival, a number of cinema employees decided it was high time for a new festival, and the Roze Filmdagen Amsterdam LGBTQ Film Festival was born! An annual event since 1996, the film festival has grown enormously over the years. This year will be its 18th edition and expects to welcome 10,000 visitors.

Roze Filmdagen tickets
